Review: Point Break (2015)

Point Break is a remake of the 1991 action thriller cult classic that originally starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. The remake centres around a former adrenaline junky, who infiltrates a gang of robbers who have martyr tendencies. Point Break stars Luke Bracey, Edgar Ramirez, Teresa Palmer, and Ray Winstone with direction coming from Ericson Core.

I have to be honest, I haven’t seen the original film. After reading some very harsh but truthful reviews of this movie, I have made the grave mistake of watching this one first. Point Break offers audiences something in the way of a low-budget action movie in the way of content, but with a high-budget look. The storyline seems to be taken from the BMovie scriptwriters department in the 1940’s with little substance and an insanely predictable outcome. I’m perhaps one of the lucky ones that decided to watch it on an aeroplane, and not one that paid money to watch it in theatres. Point Break offers little in the way of a decent action movie, and its only worth watching if you want something in the background while you do something genuinely productive.
